A Well Rounded Backgammon Strategy Wins Money

The most important aspect to any player’s backgammon game is what type of strategy you will use.  Backgammon strategy is crucial to winning because the majority of backgammon play is based on strategy; only the roll of the dice cedes to luck.

One of the best places to practice and learn backgammon strategy is online.  Internet backgammon brings millions of people together from all over the world who love to play backgammon.  These players offer a huge pool of knowledge and experience to learn and play against.  And because backgammon is a game that you need to play to become good at, having that many opponents at your fingertips is really a valuable asset.

When you decide on a backgammon strategy, the most important thing to learn is a fast and slow game; otherwise called a running and priming game.  Regardless of what becomes your style of play, you will face opponents that require you to shift strategies.  For example, I play a running game.  My whole objective is to roll high out of the gates and never look back; I pretty much try to overwhelm my opponent.  That has the natural drawback, though, of being sidetracked by bad dice rolls or an opponent that manages to block crucial points or hit my checkers.  In that case, in order to be successful, I will need to slow my game for at least enough time to recoup.  If my only backgammon strategy was a fast one, I would be in a world of trouble while regrouping.   The same goes for the opposite strategy; point being, if you want to be good and win money, you’ll need to be a well-rounded backgammon player.
